GSM / SMS
SMS provides a mechanism for transmitting short messages to and from wireless devices. The service makes use of an SMSC, which acts as a store-and-forward system for short messages. The wireless network provides the mechanisms required to find the destination station(s) and transports short messages between the SMSCs and wireless stations. In contrast to other existing text-message transmission services such as alphanumeric paging, the service elements are designed to provide guaranteed delivery of text messages to the destination. Additionally, SMS supports several input mechanisms that allow interconnection with different message sources and destinations.
 

GPS (Global Positioning by Satellite)
Short for Global Positioning System, a worldwide MEO satellite navigational system formed by 24 satellites orbiting the earth and their corresponding receivers on the earth. The satellites orbit the earth at approximately 12,000 miles above the surface and make two complete orbits every 24 hours. The GPS satellites continuously transmit digital radio signals that contain data on the satellites location and the exact time to the earth-bound receivers. The satellites are equipped with atomic clocks that are precise to within a billionth of a second. Based on this information the receivers know how long it takes for the signal to reach the receiver on earth. As each signal travels at the speed of light, the longer it takes the receiver to get the signal, the farther away the satellite is. By knowing how far away a satellite is, the receiver knows that it is located somewhere on the surface of an imaginary sphere centred at the satellite. By using three satellites, GPS can calculate the longitude and latitude of the receiver based on where the three spheres intersect. By using four satellites, GPS can also determine altitude.
 

Nexo Server

Vocal Server
The Vocal server is a very important part of the Nexo system. The user may both receive alerts and other information coming from a vehicle or other mobile asset and send actions back to the asset. The vocal server is used by composing the telephone number found on the user’s subscription card and entering the 12 digit subscriber’s number. Once validated, the user may start acting on the vehicle.
The user may send actions such as lock and unlock doors from a distance, set off horn and hazard lights or even ask for a localization that will be received as a precise street address in text format on your portable telephone screen or by faxThe vocal server may also be used in critical situations such as car theft or car-jacking. If the vehicles system is functioning and detects an intrusion or other alert, the user is immediately notified through the Medias that he has pre-programmed into the device (gsm, fax, e-mail, telephone). If your car has been stolen you may immediately notify the call center to ask for the immobilization of your vehicle. This service may also be very helpful in the case of an accident. The user can be located immediately by the call center that can send professional assistance quickly.

The user can call it by dialling the telephone number found on the subscription card and entering a client number and a secret code to be authenticated. Then, from the main menu, the user may choose to act on the vehicle, configure the device, localise the vehicle, define the alert subscriptions or change the secret code.The vocal server could also call the user whenever an event occurs. For example, if the device detects an intrusion, the server will notify this alert to the user through a voice call. The user could also be notified by SMS, e-mail and fax, depending on the user’s alert subscriptions.
 

Digital Mapping
A very important feature of the nexo server system is its digital mapping database facilities that give the final user a precise street level localization point at any time from anywhere and also allows the user to track the asset in real time. The GPS receiver treats the data sent by the satellites and determines the exact position of the asset using the longitude and latitude. It is also capable of finding the speed at which the asset is moving by calculating the time and distance travelled between two points.
